24 Hours of Booty 2013

What a great event!  We had fun cheering & chatting with the wonderful riders & volunteers. 

Booty Weekend!

It's Booty weekend again! We headed up to cheer everyone on (mostly Bas). All seemed to be going well up there. Bas even got to ride a few miles during the night with friends.

We didn't have a t-shirt small enough to fit Emma so I turned a womens small shirt into a dress for Emma. Check it out.

Before the ride started they did a kids 1K fun run. Emma & Bas ran it together. She was so excited to run it with her daddy. Here she is with all the other kids participating. (She is smack in center front).

24 Hours of Booty

It's been a long time since I've posted something. Michelle has assumed the Web master duties and I'm quite alright with it. She does a great job. I thought I'd try to pick up some slack and throw some stuff out there, since it was Booty weekend (what?) and its Girl's night out (which means Emma and I ate on the floor and had chips, guac, straberries and blueberries for dinner).

I won't steal any of her thunder and post anything real good, we'll except this one:

I'll be honest, I don't LOL. It's just not my thing and kind of a rule really, but this one did make me lol. They say having a child changes a lot of things in your life, I just didn't think the lol thing would be one of them.

Work has been bananas. Everything has been good, just a lot of time learning the ropes. To add some perspective, Sherry (GiGi) was here for three days before I saw her! And I promise it wasn't some ploy to get out of mother-in-law duties!

In the end, it was all worth it (the time, not dodging GiGi). The event went on without a hitch and I learned quite a bit that will help us make it better in the future. It's tough to decide on where to begin, but much easier to go on where it all ends. We had a successful event. Right now we've raised $875K, which puts us above where we were last year. Still a long way to go to hit the million mark, but at least we have a chance to get there. I received a lot of emails of thanks and some good feedback, which is great. The highlight for me was visiting with an amazing woman, Maria. Long story short - she lost her husband in his fight against cancer just two weeks before the event. She showed me around her campsite and it was such a moving experience. I'm glad I had sunglasses on, you know, I'm tough. Anyway, it just solidified why rides like 24HoB are important. The funding is needed and it gives family and friends a way that they help in a situation where all they can do is pray for the person doing the fighting. Anyway, I'm sure there's alot more to it but it was a great event.

Michelle and Jay were able to come out and volunteer. It seems like they had a great time and I was glad they were able to come out and see the event. Sherry did her part in volunteering, took one for the team and watched Emma! Michelle was able to cheer on our neighbor Jeff, which he said, made his teammates jealous!

Being interviewed with my old team the Wanzites with the 11p weatherman. He was great. He was wearing his helmet wrong and fixed it - he wanted to make sure he got it right! He even went out and turned some laps with his daughter before and after the interview.
