I Hate Ear Infections

Luke is on week four of his double ear infection. And now Emma is on day 3 of her ear infection. She was in so much pain - screaming & crying. So we headed up to Urgent care because these things always strike at night. After the dr put numbing drops in her ears she was finally able to relax & fell asleep right there in the exam room. Luke was doing a great job taking care of her! And now with 3 doses of antibiotic in her she's doing much better.

What A Week

What a week.  Here's some highlights, rather the lowlights:

• Emma jacked her head when she slipped.  Big welt.  Called the Docs, they were great and everything checked out, no concussion
• Emma starts throwing up.  Michelle with her motherly intuition, takes her to the ER since she knows something isn't right.
• Emma throws up 7 or 8 more times at the ER.  There from about 8:00 until 2:30 or 3:00 a.m.  Emma has a CT scan to rule out anything with her head.  Everything is good - they give us some pedialyte and we're on our way.
• Michelle gets sick the next day.  Guess it was a bug for sure.
• Maryland trip is cancelled.
• Emma gets her tree swing hung up.

That's about it - on to the shortened Thanksgiving Holiday.  We have so much to be thankful for - not to be cheesy or anything but we do.  

6mos Check Up

Today was a busy day for Emma. We had swim lessons again this morning. She is starting to really enjoy them....that is when she isn't too tired. The only class time available was during Emma's nap time. So sometimes we luck out and she is really awake and smiling and other times she just rubs her eyes and has her head on my shoulder for most of class. Today was a fun day. She likes jumping off the wall into the water when I count to three. Well today she enjoyed it even more because Neeland was next to her making big splashes (he's a cute 10mos old little boy with five teeth). She thought he was so funny!

For lunch she tried peas today....didn't like them. She kept her lips pushed together and wouldn't open her mouth again after the first bite. I was pretty lucky though, she swollowed the first bite instead of spitting it out! We'll save the peas for a stage 2 food :-)

Then we headed off to the big doctors appt. She is 16lbs and 25.5" tall. In the 50th percentile for both. Doc said she looked very healthy (not just beacuse she is a chunkers but because of ways doc checked her out). Said her eyes and ears were great. And she is right on track with other kids her age in regards to rolling over and sitting up. She had two shots in the leg. She did great....one big long silent scream with the mouth wide open and her tounge sticking out. Then it turned into a very loud high pitched scream. I picked her up and loved on her and she was done screaming. She is a trooper.

Emma is getting ready for bed....missing her daddy's naked baby song! Her new trick is putting those toes in her mouth. I haven't been able to get a pic yet because it makes me laugh everytime I see it. Then she laughs and the toes pop out of her mouth.




She sleeps on her tummy now! Maybe this will help the hair on the back of her head grow back in :-)

One Week Check Up

The Doctor’s visit today went well. The Doctor said Emma was doing great. She is back to her birth weight of 7 lbs. 13 oz. Her head is 14 ½ inches around, whatever that means. She is 20 and ¾ inches long, so she really is growing like a weed. Her coloring is perfect and no sign of jaundice.

I had a bunch of videos queued up so that when I got to work, they were all able to upload pretty fast. I hope the grandparents enjoy those!
