The Visit with the Doc

So I think the last thing I left off with was bath night. Bath night went pretty well. Since Emma still has her amb cord, we have to give her a sponge bath. It went pretty well. We caught her after a feeding and she was kinda out of it. That gave us a pretty good head start. All in all it was pretty successful.

I believe that we may have found our newest saving grace. Emma did pretty well with sleeping, but she was a little fussy and still wasn't having any part of sleeping in her bassinet. So after talking Charissa and a few other folks we tried putting her in her car seat. It was like magic. She was out. We put the car seat up in the bassinet so she was off the floor. It worked pretty well, though, I think Michelle kept peeking over me all night to make sure she was cool.

Yesterday we had our first visit with our Doctor. We tried to get an appt. with Dr. Satterfield, but he didn't work Wednesday, so we scheduled one with Dr. Sullivan. She turned out to be very nice, personable and laid back. She checked Emma out and everything looked good. She weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz., so there was a little weight loss, but I guess that's normal. It's funny when you go there the nurse tells you everything to do. "Undress Emma. Leave her diaper on. Put her on this scale. Take her diaper off. " I should get a break on my co-pay since I did most of the co-work. At the end Dr. Sullivan answered a barrage of questions. We had a huge list, and she was very patient and helpful.

From there we went to Target to pick up a few things. The Doc told us it was okay to take her there, just don't let anyone touch her. If it's one thing I learned in all those assemblies in elementary school, it was that strangers shouldn't touch kids. It kind of freaked me out so I was on the look out for strangers who even gave a second look. Michelle told me to settle down when someone said, "Aww, look at" and I told her to keep walking and mind her own business. Okay only half of that happened.

In the afternoon Michelle wasn't feeling that great, so she rested with what was left of the afternoon. I hung out with Emma and schooled her in scrabble. Most of her words were ahh, eh, and mmm. They weren't in the dictionary but I counted them.

A little bit later on, we received a gift basket from Michelle's folks from Edible Creations. We had one at our shower in Michigan and we loved those things! It was perfect. I don't think it was going to last the night, but it did. Thanks Jay and Sherry!

In the evening, Kevin and Michele Kelly stopped over and brought us dinner! Not only did they bring us dinner, but they brought us the Q! It was so good and very nice of them. It was great to visit with them and catch up about what Emma was up to this week.
