We thought we’d give you a little update on how everything has been going at night. Right now Luke is chilling in his swing and is turned looking at the Christmas lights. It seems to have worked for about 20 minutes. I don’t know if it his swing or his Magic blanket that is doing it—either way we’ll take it.
Overall it seems to be a little bit easier than with Emma. I’m sure it has to do with having an idea of what we are in for in terms of waking up, 3 hr. eating cycles, etc. With Emma it was a pretty big shock. You know that you won’t be getting much sleep, but we couldn’t get her to settle down or sleep.
He’s been sticking to a 2.5/3 hour schedule pretty well. We haven’t done anything crazy like you take the first shift, I’ll take the second—more so just winging it.
The first night went as expected but not so hot. Each of us we’re able to get him to sleep on the couch for at least an hour or two each time in between the feedings but he never got into any sort of sleep pattern. We’ll cut him some slack, for now. J Tonight, we’ve been able to get him to sleep in basinet part of the pack-n-play for about 30 minutes and he slept in our bed for a full 2.5 hours. It was much better.
One part that has been nice that with all of his crying/fussyness/late nights are that Emma hasn’t woken up at all. She is pretty good about going back to bed if she wakes up, but for now, we’re thankful that we don’t have to deal with that. Hopefully, we can keep her on track and their times awake in the middle of the night from overlapping.
So I just jinxed that a little bit, as I just heard a, “Mommy” from Emma. Thankfully she went back to sleep right away on her own.
Seriously - pianos are just to be looked at, not played.
