The flip side of this that we didn't anticipate are some of the things that she comes home with learning from her little friends. First is what you see pictured above. Emma apparently has learned to put up her dukes. She did this last night during bath time when she didn't want me to rinse her hair (she also grunts too when angry - that's been pretty awesome too). Michelle thinks that Emma got it from a boy at school who has an older brother (Michelle didn't have older sisters, but I can attest, that this might be the culprit as well.)
So after giving her the doo-doo look and putting on my parenting cap we had a talk about how we don't put up our dukes. Taking my parenting cap off, I asked her to show me again so I could snap this discrete pic to share with you all. It is a really funny picture, but in context, something we'll have to stay on top of to keep from becoming an issue.
The next nugget Emma came home with was saying, "Oh Crackers!" She says it when she drops something, when she trips, she has even said it when she has forgotten something. This is the one that really has us a little fired up. She is basically saying the three year old equivalent of an F or S bomb, depending on your rating. Our guess is it is coming again from another kid, but it seems like something she would hear from someone older. Michelle's friend thought it might be on a show--she heard on one of the shows her kid watches someone say, "Oh, pickles."
I guess we're going to have to start watching Cat in the Hat a little more closely.
