34.3 Seconds Away From Not Being Old

So I was this close to breaking one of my rules of writing a blog as if my daughter, who will be six months this weekend, was talking. I held strong and didn't give in. I was going to tell you Emma was MAD last night about the wings game.

Really, it was only me (Dad) that was mad (thought I'm sure you didn't think Michelle would get riled up over sports). 34.3 seconds from the Cup. I was good through the game but into the first OT had to pull out some shirts for work to iron so I would stay awake. I knew if I sat there, I would fall asleep, as exciting as the game was. Wow - If the wings hold on 34.3 more seconds - I'm not ironing a thing. The pens score, and I'm instantly 15 years older. I stayed up, hoping to witness Stanley Cup glory. . . and got nothing. Hopefully the wings can close it out this next game.

As for an update, things have been going well around here. As you can see previously, Emma is in swim lessons which is pretty cool. It's more like bath time in a big tub, but its cool she's getting comfortable in the water. I want her to be a fish, something her Dad is not. We had a good time with her at the pool this weekend. It was fun seeing her react to something new.

We had a great time with my folks when they were down visiting. Work kind of got in the way of my 1/2 day plan but we got to spend some nice time with them. Plus, I know Emma kept them entertained. Next time we'll hit up the mountains so they can pick out their new home (the subtleties have stopped Mom!).

I head out on the road next week. I have to go to some dork convention in Sucramento. As you can tell I'm not too excited to be talking about Star Wars, but it should be some good info about our database at work. Then the Journey of Hope team kicks off the following week. It's hard to believe that I've been out at the kickoffs since I rode in '98. I'm pretty lucky in that regard.

Chelle and I are really excited to head to the beach in about 3 more weeks. We're going to the outer banks this year with a bunch of friends, which will be great. I'm mostly looking forward to hitting up the beach, but hopefully we'll see the Hatteras Lighthouse and Kevin says some turtles will be doing something cool (I don't remember if its making eggs or laying eggs - they're big old turtles which makes it neat).

That's about it on our end - hope everyone is doing great!
